VDS TRAINING CALENDAR 

VDS run a variety of training courses which include: 

Developing Support and Supervising for Volunteers (including networking lunch) 

The aim of this one day course is to help participants develop ideas, skills and plans to support and develop volunteers. 
Outcomes: 
• Evidence a greater understanding of the organisations role in supporting volunteers. 
• Understand the volunteer life cycle and relate this to supporting volunteers. 
• Develop knowledge of how to manage difficult situations. 
• Produce an action plan to enhance the support and development of volunteers.

Attracting and Recruiting Volunteers 

The aim of this one day course is to explore and identify how to attract and recruit volunteers to suitable roles that match their volunteering motivations. 
Outcomes: 
• Identify appropriate recruitment methods. 
• Explain why people volunteer and transfer this knowledge to match volunteers to suitable roles. 
• Develop an action plan for attracting and recruiting volunteers.

Motivation and Retention of Volunteers 

The aim of this one day course is to explore the motivation of volunteers, linking this with good practices for retention and recognition in volunteering. 
Outcomes: 
• Understand and recognise the range of motivations for volunteering. 
• Increased awareness of how volunteer motivation relates to how we support volunteers. 
• Create an effective framework to enhance the retention of volunteers. 
• Develop an action plan to improve the retention and recognition of volunteers.
