High Flyer magazine

After the fantastic success of the first five issues of High Flyer magazine we are excited to bring you details of the eagerly anticipated issue 6 which is due out in February 2015.

HIGH FLYER is the unique magazine dedicated to Glasgow, its airport, passengers and destinations both at home and abroad, and captures the essence of Glasgow as a city that is vibrant, exciting, and rich in heritage and history.

Consistently voted as one of the top places to shop in the UK, Glasgow has over 1500 shops to choose from with well-known brand names, top designers, independent boutiques and vintage brands all attracting thousands of shoppers to Glasgow’s Style Mile.

As a visitor you can’t afford to miss this shopping extravaganza.

Glasgow, as a renowned cultural haven, can be characterised by its impressive local history with its galleries and museums among the most visited in Scotland.

Here’s what you have to look forward to in the next issue due out in February:

Business
Our editor, Karen Peattie, talks to travel guru Bill Munro, chairman of the hugely successful independent business Barrhead Travel as it celebrates its 40th anniversary. Scott Taylor, chief executive of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, talks about the organisation's role in bringing world-class events to Scotland.

Ryanair
Our intrepid editor shares a cup of tea and a Tunnock’s Teacake with the colourful character that is Michael O’Leary, the irrepressible boss of budget airline Ryanair which has recently established a key base at Glasgow Airport.

Holiday inspiration
In this issue we focus on the ever-endearing Dublin. Check out what to do in this beautiful and lively city on a weekend break. And if you’re planning a trip stateside, did you know that Dublin Airport offers pre-clearance to the USA on the Aer Lingus direct flights to San Francisco, New York, Boston, Chicago and Orlando? Plus there’s a fantastic new business class experience which will be launched on all of the airline’s transatlantic flights from March 2015.

Flights of Fancy
Look out, too, for news about other new flights and routes, including Canadian airline WestJet’s new Glasgow-Halifax route and Virgin Atlantic’s Orlando route, which will see a third weekly service come on stream in 2015. And did you know that Emirates’ double daily service from Glasgow to Dubai offers fantastic connections to destinations such as Singapore and Hong Kong?

Shoppers’ Paradise
Find out what’s hot in World Duty Free as we guide you through the best buys in drinks, fragrance, skincare and clothing. Our shopping guru John Amabile, star of Peter Andre’s 60 Minute Makeover, picks his favourite products from the brilliant shops at Glasgow Airport, including seasonal trends in clothes, accessories and the luxury products that are available in the many shops at the airport.

Meet and Greet
This issue our editor also meets Gregor Townsend, Head Coach of the amazing Glasgow Warriors, actor Gary Hollywood, one of the stars of the phenomenon that is Mrs Brown’s Boys and Glasgow’s very own hairdresser to the stars, Taylor Ferguson.

2015 - Year of Food and Drink Scotland
A recurring focus in High Flyer during 2015 will be food, given that next year is Year of Food and Drink Scotland 2015 – a special event highlighting what’s great about food and drink in Scotland. Our features promise to be very tasty!

All this plus the latest news from the airport, its partners and its brands.

A new FREE magazine, called Family Focus Scotland launched last week by the Glasgow based Herald and Times Group,

A new FREE magazine, called Family Focus Scotland launched last week by the Glasgow based Herald and Times Group, publishers of The Scottish Farmer, The Herald, Evening Times, Sunday Herald and The National newspaper.

Family Focus Scotland is Scotland’s newest and largest parenting magazine dedicated to serving families, grandparents, teachers, carers and all those who have an active interest in the well-being of our future generation.

Whether you’re a tight knit twosome or a member of a large sprawling clan, family for most of us is at the heart of everything we do, but the reality of that can mean many different things. Family Focus Scotland aims to inform, nurture and support each step from pregnancy to celebrating a long life well lived, with everything possible in between.

Editor Joan McFadden, a widely recognised and respected journalist and radio presenter, says; "I'm really excited about Family Focus Scotland, we're covering so many issues and subjects that mean a great deal to our readers. Some of it will be light hearted and highly entertaining. Some offering helpful hints and tips with some covering very emotive and moving situations. This is family life in Scotland today, often happy, sometimes just routine, occasionally heartbreaking - but always interesting."

Joan adds “Family Focus Scotland aims to shine a spotlight on families today, whether thriving and growing, struggling against adversity, coping with tragedy, celebrating achievements or planning great things.”

The magazine has a circulation of 60,000 copies and an estimated readership of 300,000 per issue. It will be distributed via a unique network of outlets specifically designed to provide maximum availability across Scotland’s major towns and cities including Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling, and will be found in health and community centres, doctors surgeries, local government public buildings, museums, libraries, leisure and entertainment centres. Selected cafes, coffee shops and shopping centres are also targeted to ensure that the demand for this title is fulfilled to its optimum potential.

The Sunday Herald also inserted a copy of the launch issue with its first edition on the 30th November which covers Carlisle, Galashiels, Perth, Dundee, Inverness Aberdeen and all Scottish Islands as well as further copies being distributed earlier this week with sales of The Evening Times, The Herald and The National.

Magazine Publisher Darren Bruce says of the new publication; “Following our hugely successful launch of Scottish Gardener earlier this year and the previous year’s Scottish Walks and Scottish Cycling to our growing portfolio of freemium titles, Family Focus Scotland is our newest addition which concentrates on the excitements, exhaustions and experiences of family life.” Adding “This launch will deliver a unique new and unrivalled platform for commercial partners that no other family orientated title can offer in Scotland".

Family Focus Scotland will also be available in a FREE digital edition format bringing you the same fantastic content of the print edition to read on all mobile and tablet devices including the iPad and iPhone.

If you would like to receive the launch issue of Family Focus Scotland in a FREE E-Edition, which will come direct to your inbox, please visit www.familyfocus.scot and register your details.
