Shopping Buddy - Leonard Cheshire

Ref 40 - 1894

Cheshire house provides accommodation and support within self-contained flats for 16 adults with physical and learning disability. On a weekly basis each individual is supported to do their weekly shopping, this time is not only used to shop it is also time to socialise so it is a key part of each person who uses the services week.

Successful volunteers would have the opportunity to buddy people who use the service to local shops or if a driver’s license is held, further afield. Although weekly shopping is the main purpose of the outing it is 1-1 time that volunteers can form relationships with people who use the service.
If wishing to do so a volunteer can work alongside staff assisting with menu planning for the week and help to promote our ethos of healthy eating.
